The annual Halifax Pop Explosion is set to er, explode in Nova Scotia between October 19th and 23rd and like the previous 17 years, 2010 is set to bring a wide array of both Canadian and international talent.
This year is set to feature the “festival’s biggest and best lineup to date,” including Tokyo Police Club, The New Pornographers, The Hold Steady, Basia Bulat (with Symphony Nova Scotia), Jason Collett, Handsome Furs, Great Lake Swimmers, Torche, C’mon, High On Fire, Ty Segall and a special performance by Sloan, who will be covering their 1994 classic album, Twice Removed. A full list of the performers can be seen here.
In addition to the gigs, there will also be the fifth annual Music Matters Conference, which will cover the real-life relationships that drive the music industry, featuring keynote presentations, panel discussions focusing on touring, festivals, and connecting with an audience, and the Halifax Swap Explosion, which gives attendees the chance to trade books, music, and shirts with friends old and new.
