When I go see a band live for the first time I always wonder what they are going to sound like live. There are bands that I’ve seen that sound way better live, some that sound OK live and there are some that sound like you are listening to the actual album. Tokyo Police Club fall into the final category of sounding like they do on their album live! And it’s a good thing!
If you’ve listened to any of Tokyo Police Club’s EPs or debut album Elephant Shell you know that their songs aren’t long so it didn’t surprise me that the show was about 50 minutes long. Even though the show was short it surely didn’t disappoint. From the start the guys pumped out song after song after song, including their hits Tessellate, Juno, In A Cave, and my favourite of the night, Your English Is Good.
The sold out show at The Opera House was an all ages concert, but from what I saw it seemed like the majority of the crowd was 19+. I did see a few teens roaming around and one that was a member of the opening band Smoosh. All in all it was a good show and the only downer was the rain!
