5. Harry Burns and Sally Albright – When Harry Met Sally
Sometimes romantic relationships blossom out of wonderful friendships. We won’t hold it against Billy Cyrstal that it took him FOREVER to realize what a catch he had with Meg Ryan, since as soon as he did figure it out, he realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and wanted the rest of his life to start as soon as possible.
4. Patrick Verona and Kat Straford – 10 Things I Hate About You
While the late Heath Ledger is often remembered best for his dramatic roles in films like Dark Knight and Brokeback Mountain, his undeniable talent as an actor stretched over into the comedy realm. Based on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, Ledger’s Patrick Verona is hired to date the terrifying Kat Straford, played by Julia Stiles. No big surprise, he falls in love with her, only to have Kat discover his intentions did not start out innocently. Sure, it’s a story you’ve seen in films a million times. But Shakespeare totes did it first.
3. Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy - Bridget Jones’s Diary
He liked her, just the way she was. And for the record, she was a hot mess.
2. Noah and Allie Calhoun – The Notebook
He was a poor boy from the wrong side of the tracks and she was the beautiful girl just in town for the summer. War, family, sickness and time separated them, making their love story a truly great one.
1. Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater – Titanic
One of the greatest films and love stories of all time, Titanic gave us a romance for the ages. As Jack and Rose, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet brought to life a couple who overcame class and tragedy in their short time together. I think most of the world is still waiting for these real-life best friends to get married. Come on, you two!
