Kanye is the man. He’s an artist in the truest sense of the word. When people criticize him for being cocky, it’s a little frustrating. Would you rather a cocky person who makes the same boring crap over and over? *coughcough50Centcough* So in honour of Kanye, here’s a list of his best videos*:
5. Flashing Lights (watch video) – This video is crazy. It’s so simple but so huge, and can be taken any way you want…not to mention how much swagger it has without even trying.
4. Stronger (watch video) – this video is exciting for so many reasons. The live action japanimation, the factory building Kanye, and I’m completely in love with Cassie so that helps too.
3. Gold Digger (watch video) – Come on. Green-screened pin-up girls and Jamie Foxx killing it. Even though it’s number three for Kanye it’s better than most videos from this decade.
2. Diamonds From Sierra Leone (watch video) – Driving around in a gullwing Mercedes with the doors open? All you rappers with Lambo doors need to step your games up.
1. Touch The Sky (watch video) – number one has to be Touch The Sky, if only because Kanye himself would want it that way. What other artist would make fun of themselves and still have it reflect how passionate they are about the art of music videos? He’s this generation’s Michael Jackson, and yeah I see you Usher but I don’t care. Justin wants it too but even his best video doesn’t come close.
* it doesn’t feel right forgetting Can’t Tell Me Nothing, Jesus Walks and All Falls Down, so honourable mentions to those videos as well.
