Top 5 OMG Moments from the MTV VMAs

With performances from the biggest stars in music and an attendance sheet that boasts the who’s who of Hollywood, this Thursday’s presentation of the 2012 MTV VMAs will surely produced a number of its own OMG moments. The MTV VMAs have a history of giving fans some of the most exciting performances in music and some of the most unforgettable moments in pop culture.

Today we’re counting down the Top 5 OMG Moments from the MTV VMAs. Don’t miss out on any of this year’s OMG moments when the red carpet presentation of the MTV VMAs begins at 7 pm ET tomorrow on MUCH, followed by the 2012 MTV VMAs at 8 pm ET.

5. Beyonce Announces Pregnancy

During her performance at the 2011 MTV VMAs, Beyonce kept her love on top and in front. After years of keeping her relationship with husband Jay-Z under a tight veil of privacy, Beyonce let the world in on her exciting news when she finished her performance by dropping the mic and unbuttoning her jacket to reveal her pregnant stomach. The surprising reveal of the pregnancy was almost trumped by how much fun Jay-Z and Uncle Kanye had on camera after the awards show.

4. Britney’s Comeback Gives Less

In a case of too much too soon, Britney Spears was set to make a triumphant comeback at the 2007 VMAs. Unfortunately, the comeback turned out to be anything but, instead making the once reigning princess of pop the joke of the awards show after her zombie-like performance failed to impress. Fans wondered whether this was the end of the road for Spears, who thankfully took more time out of the spotlight and has since reemerged to complete a successful world tour. Spears will be appearing as a judge on this season of The X Factor.

3. Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Kiss

At the 1994 VMAs, newlyweds Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley shocked audiences when they appeared together on stage and kissed, after Jackson declared “And just think, nobody thought this would last.” Unfortunately, the marriage didn’t last and the two divorced shortly after the appearance.

2. Madonna Seals Her Performance With a Kiss(es)

Madonna continued her tradition of making a statement at the VMAs along with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera when the three performed together during the 2003 VMAs and shared a kiss on stage. Easily one of the best parts of the performance was watching the crowd’s reaction. I really miss Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

1. Kanye West Doesn’t Let Taylor Swift Finish

In what has gone down as one of the most cringe-inducing moments in awards show history, Kanye West jumped on stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video during the 2009 MTV VMAs to declare that Beyonce’s Single Ladies was one of the best videos of all time. Swift got a chance to give her speech later in the night when Beyonce won for Best Video of the Year and West received an onslaught of negative attention, even from President Obama, following the show.
