Relationships are hard, especially when you have to put your wedding off for five years. From the romantic mind of Jason Segel, The Five Year Engagement shows the ups and downs of balancing careers and love, with a few fart jokes here and there.

2. Silver Linings Playbook

Everyone thinks that Pat (Bradley Cooper) and Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) are crazy, but all we want to know is whether they’re really just crazy for each other. An off-centre romantic comedy, Silver Linings Playbook has scored big this year with critics and viewers.

1. Pitch Perfect

Like Romeo and Juliet, Beca and Jesse are kept apart by rival acapella groups…plus the fact that Beca is in a big emo stage of her life and refuses to admit Jesse is supah fly. Throw in some hilarious scenes with an outstanding cast and a few killer mash-ups and you’ve got a date movie that everyone will love.
