March 4th, 2010

In honour of Sunday’s upcoming Oscars, we’re taking a look back at the Top Ten most memorable Oscar outfits. Of course there have been many stunning dresses and suits, but only a few made the list because…well, it’s more fun to talk about the crazies!
Let’s drop this disco ball and count down!
Celine Dion

Pimp Daddy Dion was at the Oscars in 1999 to pick up her award for best song for Titanic. Too bad this outfit didn’t go down with the ship. A white suit? A white suit with a hat? A white suit with a hat that you’re wearing backwards? Somewhere Kris Kross is embarrassed for you, Ms. Dion.
Bjork

I actually really like this dress. There. I said it (typed it) out loud. I do. I think it’s badass. I’m not about to rock it at my next par-tay, but that’s why we love people like Bjork who are risk takers. She looks great. Go on wich yo bad self, B!
South Park Guys

Best dressed! Hands down! Loves it! Trey Parker looks pretty in pink in his ode to Gwyneth Paltrow, and Matt Stone dares to bare in his Jennifer Lopez inspired look. Maybe a quick chest wax would have done the duo some good – it’s an awful lot of Grrrrrr for the red carpet. Otherwise, perfection.
Halle Berry

If you saw this dress at the 2002 Oscars, you remember it! Not that it’s hard to make Halle Berry look gorgeous, but this dress sure ups the ante! The satin burgundy, the flowers placed ‘just so’ over Berry’s ridonkulous bod – amazeballs!
Cher

I get that Cher has ridonkulous abs, I do. If I had those abs I’m sure I’d forget to put on the middle part of my dress too. But, that headdress! Oooo gurl, no! What poor person had to sit behind Cher and miss the entire Oscars because she decided to dress like a Showgirl that just got off shift? That’s who I really feel bad for!
Demi Moore

Hey Lance Armstrong, bike shorts barely belong on bikes, let alone the red carpet! IS YOU CRAZY??? Demi looks way better now than she did in 1989, which judging by this outfit isn’t that hard to believe. Don’t let Ashton see this!
Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton was apparently going for the fresh face/just rolled out of bed look. Unfortunately, no one looks good in the morning, especially when they wear their sheet as a dress as Miss Swinton did at the 2008 Oscars. As one ginger to another, don’t fear the mascara, Tilda. Embrace it.
Uma Thurman

Riiicccoooollllaaaaa!!!!!!
Lara Flynn Boyle

The dress might be a little wacky, but I like it! The look was inspired by Boyle’s ex, Jack Nicholson, who reportedly cheated on Lara with a dancer. When asked on the red carpet “Where’s Jack?” Lara replied, “Where isn’t he?” Oh snap! Looking good is the best revenge.
Lizzy Gardiner

You’re probably think, who? And then you’re thinking, wtf? Lizzy Gardiner, the fashion designer behind the Oscar nominated film Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, showed up to the 1995 Oscars in a dress made of Gold American Express Cards. I bet I know one person that liked it…
