Toronto Warped Tour Correspondent – Laura!

This year MuchMusic and Warped Tour teamed up to send three lucky correspondents to the Toronto, Montreal and Edmonton stops on the tour! Check out interviews with Parkway Drive, Alkaline Trio, Automatic Love Letter and more from our Toronto correspondent, Laura!

Hey guys my name is Laura and I was chosen by MuchMusic to be the Warped Tour correspondent. I was also asked to document my experience at Warped Tour with a Flip Cam and I have to say I fell in love with using it because its so simple and quick for getting footage, especially when you’re dealing with a tour that has such a hectic schedule. When I was told I was going to be this year’s correspondent, I was so excited and being the kind of person that I am, I quickly thought of some great ideas in order to stand out from your regular music supporter hanging out backstage. However, I tend to get a little ahead of myself when I want to fit so many things into one day so of course it goes without saying that once I got there I had no idea where to begin. There were so many things happening at once, therefore I had to just dive right in. Last year when I attended Warped Tour I wanted to do something as a way to meet new people and something that would set me apart from the crowd. I decided to start a photo project. This year of course I continued with the photo project, this time getting only bands and people at the merch tents to take part in the project. All day I ran around taking pictures, riding on a golf cart finding bands to interview and going back and forth between the stages to watch bands play. You could say I was backstage hopping =P
Meeting these bands, making new friends, talking about the tour and music in general, sharing stories, inside jokes and even riding a Vespa with a sexy Australian was truly memorable and one of the best times I’ve had at a big music festival. I had such a great day, I was even too tired to go to the after party!

Anyway, I hope that anyone who was able to go this year had a great time and for those who couldn’t make it, I suggest checking it out next year and hopefully my experiences give you insight to what goes on in the crazy world that is Warped Tour. =D
