#trending: Princess of Punk

Forget the unpolished perfection of punk fashion – a new punk girl is invading the sartorial scene. She’s feminine, fierce and just a little rebellious. Need a celebrity example? Pop icon Rihanna, particularly in today’s high energy Talk That Talk era.

The new punk trend is a lot of mix and match – pairing bright girly colours with metallic spikes, studs, and ripped jeans. Check out the “We Found Love” music video for some unconventional denim washes and styles. In “You Da One,” she’s all up in leather and monochromatic prints – there’s even a Clockwork Orange reference. That’s a heavy punk riff right there!

Rihanna’s famous for her effortless street style, so she’s the perfect punk inspiration.

The look is really easy to recreate; it’s just a mish-mash of whatever you probably already own. Rock the punk with grace and you’ll definitely fall in line with RiRi’s 2012 punk style. We found punk in a popstar’s face!
