#trending: Suits Make The Man

October 25th, 2011

Hey Upper East Siders,

Kimtern here, with your one and only source into the scandalous closets of Manhattan’s elite (a.k.a. a recap of what everyone wore last night on Gossip Girl!)

In honour of the High Holy Days, Blair opted for high-waisted pants to celebrate Yom Kippur. She paired the wide-leg Tracy Reese trousers with a lovely, floral sleeveless Dolce & Gabbana top. Did I spy the beginning of a baby bump? The blush dress she wore for the Hebrew holiday was gorg! The detailing added depth and dimension to the dress.

While she lied to get the movie rights to Dan’s novel, we’ll forgive Serena of her sins. After all, that’s what Yom Kippur is for. Always bold and beautiful, trendsetter S mixed an aqua Gryphon tee with glitter chain-link accenting and a short beige striped Gryphon skirt.

In a blue Brioni suit, Chuck was back in business. Not only does he look nice, but he seems to be a nicer person. Could it be thanks to his four-legged companion? Man’s best friend, indeed.

“Don’t you look great?” were the words Lily had for Charlie at the beginning of last night’s ep, and I would have to agree. With a sweater by Rebecca Taylor, shirt from Topshop, Paige Denim jeans, and Kelsi Dagger shoes, she looked ready to take on her first day, and take down the Van der Woodsen family.

It seems Beatrice (Louis’ sabotaging sister) and Charlie have more in common than their evil ways. The pair each donned a Meira T. necklace in the episode. Beatrice looked charming in Diane von Furstenberg’s mini winged jacquard dress. Her Nancy Gonzalez bag, meantime, looked big enough to hold all her tricks, though seriously, someone should knock her off her Alexandre Birman peep toe pumps, because there’s only room for one Queen B in this town.

Red is typically a signal of danger, and that’s exactly the impression Diana gives off (I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Gossip Girl costume designers dress her in that colour). Her siren red Emilio Pucci dress looked devilishly good though. I liked the circular cut out on the back, and the choice to finish with nude pumps (totally #trending this week!) The only thing in Diana’s closet I question are the skeletons. What is she hiding? Did Diana have a fling with Bart? Could she be mother Bass?!
