TSC Episode 1: “You’re A Witch. We All Are. There!”

Tact is not Faye’s strong suit. Neither is controlling a thunderstorm. But between drowning in a bar, magic fires and having a Peeping Tom play with your drapes, The Secret Circle had us the minute Cassie and Adam almost kissed between the floating raindrops.

So Cassie’s a witch. You’d think that’s something her mother would have told her. And maybe she would have over dinner that night if she hadn’t been burned to death in a fiery explosion in her house. We’ll never know now, will we?

To be raised by the only family she has left, Cassie returns to her mother’s hometown to live with her grandmother. Except she has no idea what kind of hometown her mother was raised in.

Her room has magical stars that float around in her sleep and her neighbour magically moves her drapes aside to watch her get nekkid.

Good to know Pretty Little Liars ain’t the only show with pervs.

Eventually, the secrets of the town get out. Cassie is a child from one of the six families of witches that settled in Chance Harbour. The others include Adam, Faye, Diana, Melissa and Nick. They all lost a parent sixteen years ago when their parents (also witches) performed a spell that went wrong. That’s why Cassie’s mother left in the first place.

But they convince Cassie they’re telling the truth in two ways. the bad way was Faye almost killing Cassie by setting her car on fire. With Cassie in it. The good way was with Adam and Cassie playing around with water droplets. But then he tried to kiss her so it soured the experience….

BUT now that Cassie’s convinced, their circle is complete and they’re more powerful. But they can’t let their parents know they are practicing magic. So to keep their powers secret, Faye launches a full out thunderstorm on the town, then can’t call it off.

Very responsible Faye. What will your principal mother think?

Cassie manages to control the storm, but tells everyone she wants nothing to do with their circle.

Which would be all fine and dandy except Cassie finds her mother’s spell book and a letter telling her people will come after them for their power.

And she’s telling the truth. We learn the man who murdered Cassie’s mother was Diana’s father. He also tried to kill Adam’s father. And Faye’s mother is in on it. When Cassie’s grandmother asks what’s going on, Faye’s mother outright lies to her.
