TSC Episode 13: Cassie, meet Lucy. She’s evil and going to double-cross you. Have fun!

“Double double toil and trouble“? The only “double” these witches are doing is “double-crossing“! That’s the name of the game last night as a psychic arrives in Chance Harbour to finish the work the witch hunters started 16-years-ago the night The Circle’s parents died.

Remember when Cassie went back in Jake’s memories the night of the fire…and one of the memories actually saw Cassie? Turns out that mystery person was Lucy, a psychic who was close to the witches, and unbeknownst to them, even closer with the witch hunters!

She comes to town and warns Cassie the witch hunters are closing in soon. The a-little-too-trusting Cassie immediately tells her she found her father’s amulet, so she’s prepared. Lucy tells her she knows how to activate the magic and beat the witch hunters for good.

Which, we could all guess, was a big, fat lie.

Dawn Chamberlain (Faye’s mom) marked Lucy and banished her from Chance Harbour after the fire. But when Lucy returned, Dawn learned her whereabouts the instant the psychic set foot in town, and went to threaten her to get out.

You see, Lucy was brought on board the witches’ team by John Blackwell and Amelia Blake (Cassie’s parents) to figure out what the witch hunters plans were that night. BUT Lucy was really in league with the hunters, and double crossed them.

When Dawn tries to get Lucy to give up the whereabouts of more of those uber-powerful witch-family crystals, Lucy betrays Dawn again by stabbing her and leaving her for dead.

Then she goes to kill Cassie’s Circle using her own amulet.

Jake has been warning Cassie over and over that using her dark magic, learning about her father and trusting Jake to fill in the blanks will only lead to disaster. But his jealously of Cassie hooking up with Jake means he can’t explain all this without sounding like an ass. So Cassie rushes into danger, and almost risks the lives of the circle.

Faye and Cassie have a lot more in common than we think, huh?

Lucy’s plan was to use the amulet to suck the witches dry of their magic (and in effect, killing them). Cassie realizes everything is wrong when everyone starts to feel the way they did when Faye tried the same thing. Cassie does a complete 180 and manages to attack Lucy and stop her spell from taking effect.

Lucy tries to run away and leave Chance Harbour again, but when a witch hunter asks her for an update and realizes she didn’t get the amulet away from Cassie…that’s the end of Lucy. Throat slit, end of story.

In the end, Charles manages to get his hands on a crystal (the one Ethan had) and uses it to save Dawn’s life. Cassie ignores Adams warnings and tries to activite the magic of the amulet again…and this time she feels something.

As the episode closes, she utters the most dramatic words of all: Daddy!

In other news, instead of Faye going to the dark side with drugs, a neat little twist shows us it’s Melissa who’s turning into an addict. This won’t bode well if Melissa lets loose on a random drug high. Fingers-crossed they’re shooting that episode now!

Next week, it’s Valentine’s Day in Chance Harbour. Dun dun dun……
