Bonnie (to Damon and Elena): What’s going on with you two?
Damon: We kissed. Now it’s weird.
And that’s only the beginning of the awesomeness in last week’s episode. Elena and Stefan have some words, someone gets punched, Tyler transforms and Bonnie meets her maker. Whatever this episode lacked in action, it made up for in drama!

Where do I even start? I guess the best place is the beginning:
Bonnie & Abby Bennett
So, Bonnie meets her mother. In one of her ever-increasingly convenient dreams about the coffins hiding out in the ol’ witch house, Bonnie has a vision that her mother will be able to open Klaus’ fourth coffin. Remember, she believes whatever is in this coffin (based on another one of Bonnie’s convenient dreams) will kill Klaus for good.

So off Bonnie and Elena go to find Abby Bennett. And with help from Sheriff Forbes, they find her. Only Klaus finds her first. He sends another hottie hybrid (seriously, Klaus only turns the hottest peeps into hybrids) to Abby’s and compels her live-in ward Jamie to kill himself unless Abby can get the exact location of Klaus’ hidden coffins.
So, Abby will be forced to betray the daughter she’s about to meet again for the first time in roughly 15 years. Let’s see how this plays out.

Bonnie and her mother are pretty honest about what’s been going on. Abby tells the truth and says she was good friends with Miranda Gilbert (Elena’s mother) and when Michael (Klaus’ father) came looking for the doppelganger (Elena) 15 years ago, Abby led him away from Mystic Falls and trapped him in the tomb where Katherine found him. But leaving Mystic Falls caused Abby to lose her powers…and she decided to embrace that and live like a normal human being. She took in the young Jamie as her ward, and has raised him ever since.

Bonnie filled her in on recent events – Klaus is in town looking to make more hybrids and upset the balance of, basically, the universe and they need Abby’s help to open the coffin that might kill him once and for all.

And then Abby drugs her, mutes her powers and kidnaps her while Elena gets tied to a barn in the back. Oh, and Stefan was stalking Bonnie and Elena to make sure they did find Bonnie’s mom so they could kill Klaus, and gets shot full of wood chips care of the compelled Jamie.
Elena Gilbert & Stefan Salvatore
However, Klaus told Jamie not to hurt Elena, and she uses that to her advantage to free herself, and knock Jamie out. Those training sessions with Alaric are totally paying off!

While she’s helping remove the wood chips out of Stefan, she tells him she’s not sorry about this, but she kissed Damon!

Stefan, clearly dejected by this news…says nothing. The harsh sting of the wood chips is nothing compared to this!
Finally, he tells her he shouldn’t have pushed her this far. And that she deserves better than Damon…and himself. She’s better than both of them.

What. A. Moment!
Stefan finally reacts with anger…by punching Damon in the face when he gets back to the Salvatore mansion. And Damon knew exactly where that was coming from, so he doesn’t fight back.
Originals Klaus & Elijah
Abby and Bonnie go to meet the hottie hybrid, and Abby manages to explain why she did what she did. Bonnie has no choice but to tell the hybrid the truth, but Abby buys her time to warn Damon to move the coffins. In the end, Abby agrees to come back to Mystic Falls and see how she can help.

Damon gets Bonnie’s message in time to move only one of the coffins. He hides the locked coffin, and returns in time to see Klaus at the ol’ witch house, ready to take back his family. But Damon also had time to do one last thing before Klaus took his coffins away: undagger a very pissed off Elijah – who is now face to face with the brother who betrayed him!

Damon Salvatore, Meredith Fell & Alaric Saltzman
After Meredith’s ex-boyfriend turns up dead, Damon immediately thinks Alaric’s sexy-lady-doctor-friend is a high-maintenance psycho.

So, in typical Damon fashion, he goes to see Meredith and immediately accuses her of being a murderer. In Alaric’s best interests, of course.

She retaliates by drugging him with vervain, and stealing some of his blood. Reporting back the events to Alaric, he too pays Meredith a visit to figure out why a doctor would want to steal vampire blood.

Meredith shows Alaric exactly why she needs vampire blood; as a doctor, she tries to save everyone she can. And when modern medicine fails, vampire blood does the trick.

Alaric is satisfied, but Damon isn’t. Now that can’t be good.
Caroline & Bill Forbes and Tyler Lockwood
So Tyler likes Caroline. But he tried to kill her. So Tyler tried to show his love in a different way: bring in ruthless supernatural hater Bill Forbes AKA Caroline’s father to cure him of his sire-ness to Klaus.

Wow. And knowing what Caroline went through at Bill’s hands before….that’s saying something. But Bill believes he can cure him. And it’s pretty vicious. So vicious, Caroline can’t even stand by her man to watch the process. The process is – if Tyler can transform at will without any pain, he won’t need to view Klaus as the one who took away the pain of the transformation.

Which is too bad because Bill means business. If Tyler can’t be cured, Bill will kill him since he poses a threat to his daughter. And he says this after Tyler nearly mauled him to death and landed Bill in the hospital.
