TVD Episode 16: “Some Kinda Crazy-A** Psychic Witch Attack”

March 2nd, 2011

Damon sure knows how to call it, doesn’t he? The Vampire Diaries left us on one helluva high note with lots to bite on until its return on April 8th.

Take a deep breath because S**T when down this episode. If you didn’t watch it, catch what you missed HERE and then click for our TVD debrief!

So….Stefan still gets horny in the mornings. Nice to know guys don’t lose that after death. But Katherine also gets off imitating Elena. So expect Nina Dobrev to get slammed against a wall a few more times as the brothers figure out which doppelganger they’ve got.

Katherine: I wanted out of the tomb. Doesn’t matter the price. Of course I knew you would die.

I think Damon is starting to grow again. He didn’t go ballistic for once when he learned the truth from Katherine. She told him he’d hate it he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Jon planned for Elijah and a Salvatore bro to die in order to get Katherine out of the tomb. His deal was her freedom in exchange for the life of one Salvatore….and she chose to save Stefan.

Stefan and Bonnie tried to sway witches Jonas and Lukas to their side. It didn’t work but it did reveal one important fact – Elijah didn’t have a dagger to kill Klaus with.

They’ve been hinting at an ancient witch massacre in the last few episodes (and here I thought that was all just passing conversation). Katherine points out when a witch kicks it, her powers transfer to the spot she died. So Elijah was going to use a spot with some killer mojo to off Klaus. And now Damon knows where the spot is.

So it all sounds good in the hood, right?

Damon: It’s some kind of crazy ass psychic witch attack!

Jonas and Luka feel the way to kill Klaus is with Elijah. So Jonas sends Lukas psychically to save Elijah. He stakes Katherine (but misses the heart!) but is no match for Damon’s flame-thrower (HOW BAD-ASS IS THAT!) and dies on the spot.

Jonas, having lost a daughter to Klaus and now his son is dead, decides to lure him out using Elena as bait.

In the meantime, kudos to Alaric. He can’t keep lying to Jenna and wants to tell her everything. But he knows Elena suffers the most from Jenna knowing everything so it’s her call. And he politely discusses it with her. Now that’s a man to keep!

Elena: How do we tell someone what we know? How does someone hear that?

Thank God they realize keeping loved ones in the dark only hurts them. Jenna got stabbed, Matt was almost murdered and he almost killed Tyler…you’re telling me only now they’re realizing the dangers of ignorance?

Matt: Since when am I the one who can express himself and you the one at a loss for words?

Elena and the girls head to Mystic Grill to commiserate their boy-problems. Alaric tries to make good with Jenna but it’s a no-go. He even says he loves her, but it doesn’t mean squat without the truth about his ex-wife. Caroline decides to serenade Matt. With Eternal Flame. And it’s actually a really romantic scene. Especially when Matt jumps on stage and just starts kissing her.

**Sigh** Be still my beating heart.

But all good things come to an end. Jonas storms Mystic Grill for Elena. And by storm I mean breaks glass, explodes the electrical and lights everything in his sight on fire. He shoves a broken bottle through Matt’s neck.

Caroline has no choice but to use her blood to save him. When he comes to, he freaks the s**t out!

Katherine, posing as Elena, kills Jonas back at the Gilbert house posing at Elena. But Jonas gives Bonnie her powers back before he bites it. Bonnie updates Jeremy with this as they get their freak on in his room (and after Elena gives them her blessing).

Katherine: Your pretty little outfit is gonna need a good dry clean.
Elena: I don’t need your help and I don’t want it.
Katherine: That’s incredibly stupid of you.

It’s really hard to believe its only one actress playing Elena and Katherine. She’s plays them so differently!

I’m loving Elena and Katherine getting catty together in their scenes, but nothing prepared me for the return of Isobel. So Elena meets her mother again. And Jenna realizes what Alaric’s been keeping from her.

All the players have been assembled and everyone’s in the loop now! Can April come any sooner?
