In a world of original vampires and witches, Michael is the original “I-caught-my-wife-cheating-so-I-killed-her-then-hunted-my-own-children” of the group. Or so we’re led to believe. But thanks to some ancient hieroglyphics, we find out an even bigger secret.
There may have been way too many twists and turns to follow but we’re all seasoned TVD fans so we know where to hold on to keep track of all the bombshells! BUT even that couldn’t prepare us for THE BEST DALENA MOMENT IN ALL TVD HISTORY (we even have the beautiful background song included in this post!!)
Relive that beautiful moment HERE, then read on to find out kind of bloodbath we can expect from the Originals on the MID-SEASON FINALE OF THE VAMPIRE DIARIES TOMORROW @ 8PM ET ON MUCHMUSIC!
Okay, so here’s what we know about the originals. Besides the men all having really bad hair (and Rebecca’s love for braiding hers) the original vampires were born human and came over to the new world to escape the plaque in Europe.
BUT when one of their younger sons is killed by a werewolf, their mother, Ester (AKA the original witch) cast a spell to turn them it vampires.

Which would have been totally fine EXCEPT when the curse was cast guess what news came to light?
Klaus wasn’t Michael’s son! Talk about scandals!!
Esther couldn’t turn herself into a vampire, so she remained human and therefore, Michael killed her after making sure she cast a spell so Klaus could never turn into a werewolf.

That’s why all the Original Kids hate their father and side with Klaus. And because they side with Klaus, that’s why Michael is hunting them.
Now, you ready for the big twist? All of these years Elijah and Rebecca have hated Michael for killing Esther. But that’s not what happened. That’s what Klaus told them.
Instead, Klaus killed Esther after she cast the spell to rob him of his werewolf abilities, then blamed Michael for the death to turn his kids against him.

Let me just say it. What an a**hole! We all know Klaus is afraid of being alone, and that’s probably why he did this – to keep his siblings close at hand.

Now that Rebecca knows the truth, what will she do? She had the chance to kill Elena, but she didn’t do it. Instead she broke down in tears. Have Elena and Co. finally recruited an Original to their side? Let’s hope so.

In other news, Katherine is MIA (maybe dead, maybe drained of all her blood, or maybe living the high life in Las Vegas – who knows) but Michael is alive and well. In fact, he’s tracked down Stefan and Damon to a bar and offered a plan.

Bring Klaus back to Mystic falls and Michael will kill him. Failure to do so, and Michael will kill Stefan.
Sounds like Mike is one tough mother to bargain with.
And why are Damon and Stefan at a bar in the first place? Wasn’t Stefan chained up in a basement somewhere? Yes, he was. While Elena was explaining the TRUE story of the Originals to Rebecca, Damon decided to try his own brand of rehabilitation with Stefan behind her back: drunken brotherly bonding at a bar.

And…it sort of works. At the end of the day, evil or not, Stefan and Damon are brothers. They protect each other.

Michael knows that and gets Stefan to agree to the deal with one simple method of persuasion: I’ll kill your brother unless you agree to help me kill Klaus. He says this with Damon’s beating heart almost ripped out of his body.
Now remember Stefan was compelled to be loyal to Klaus AND be an ass so the fact that he broke his compulsion for a moment to save the life of his brother was a BIG DEAL.
Damon even calls him on it saying “careful Stefan, your humanity’s showing”.

So it’s brotherly love that will save Stefan Salvatore. Damon knows it. Michael knows it. And Elena knows it.
Which brings us to the most beautiful moment in Damon and Elena history.
First, play this song before you read ahead. It’s awesome. It’s sweet. It’s about family love and being there for the people you care about. It’s called We Don’t Eat by James Vincent McMorrow and it’s EXCELLENT! Hit play yet? Good. Read on.
Damon didn’t want Elena going up against Rebecca alone. Elena didn’t want Damon freeing Stefan from his cell. Yet both of their decisions got Michael and Rebecca on their side against Klaus.
They both realize they’re growing stronger as fighters and as friends, and the fact they have a common purpose: save Stefan and stop Klaus.

Then Elena says the magic words that cement the fact her and Stefan are over.
She won’t be the one to save him. Stefan’s love for her isn’t strong enough. It will be Damon.
It’s the Salvatore brothers who will rescue each other, as they always do. Which leads Elena to finally see Damon in a different light. A fall-asleep-in-my-bed-and-comfort-me kinda light.

I’ll say it here: this is the first moment they both know they can be with each other, and more importantly be with each other happily and as equals.

Now how’s THAT for an AWESOME Dalena moment?
