While receiving an award at the 2012 Environmental Media Awards on Saturday, Ian Somerhalder was on the red carpet to talk about his environmental ideals and the possibility of playing the lead in the film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. Somerhalder’s name has been attached to the project since news of it hitting the big screen was made public, and frankly I can’t think of anyone better for the role. But I’d still like to be in the room when he auditions.

While Ian has remained vague on whether or not he has officially been offered the role, he did tell E! “I think that’s going to be a very interesting story to tell…It seems like whoever plays that role, it will be very interesting rehearsal time…the audition process is gonna be interesting.”

Ian’s Vampire Diaries co-star Kat Graham was also in attendance for Saturday’s events and presented Somerhalder with his award. When asked about whether she could see Ian playing Christian Grey, Graham seemed to share my opinion. “I don’t think of anyone else in the running (to play Christian Grey). I hope that with The Vampire Diaries schedule they would be able to work that out. Ian is so beyond capable of that.” Giggity.
