Twilight actors start a fight

It looks like things are getting nasty in the negotiations for Breaking Dawn. Apparently Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene are refusing to sign their contracts with Summit Entertainment until the company offers both actors more money. The three main stars of the Twilight franchise – Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson – are rumoured to have all received bigger paycheques for the final film. Lutz and Greene are arguing that they should also be getting more cheddar in their pockets.

Let me break it down for y’all. Before Twilight you might remember Kellan Lutz from…? And Ashley Greene lit up the big screen playing…? I got nothin’. And frankly, neither did they before the Twilight films. Lutz was one of those actors that you might have said ‘He looks familiar’ as a result of his short live gigs on a variety of TV shows. But, that’s about it.

I get it, I get it. The movies are making a ton of moolah and you two want your cut. Can’t blame you on that. The exact salaries of the Twilight cast have not been released, but even still, I can bet that no one playing a Cullen is going hungry at night. The resumes of Lutz and Greene have more than doubled in quality since being cast as Emmett and Alice Cullen. The two have become international stars and are put on pedestals by the millions of young fans that love the Twilight series. So, why you gotsta ruin that?

Yes, K Stew, Lautner and Pattinson are making more money. They also have the most screen time, do the most promotion for the films, and have had to deal with the biggest invasions of their privacy. Summit has already proved that it’s not afraid to show people the door (we miss you, Rachelle Lefevre), so before you start holding out for more money on what is most likely an already huge paycheque, you have to ask yourself two things.

One: Is the extra cash really worth losing out on being in a movie that is guaranteed to be hugely successful and loved for years to come?
Two: Did you get into acting for the money or the enjoyment of the art?

Fans love the cast of Twilight, but if you leave them over money, they will leave you next time you’re at the box office. Something to think about.
