Girl meets boy. Girl falls in love with boy. Girl discovers boy is a vampire and isn’t phased in the slightest because they are so madly in love with each other…but I’ll spare you the detailed synopsis because you know it already. Last night, I got the opportunity to attend an advance screening of Twilight, and my guess is that the book’s legions of fans will not be disappointed with the movie version.
Set against the gorgeous backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, the scenery in the film is visually captivating. Of course, it pales in comparison to the brooding good looks of star Robert Pattinson, who induces shrieks of joy from every teenage girl in the audience whenever he pops up on screen (at least that’s what happened during the screening). The pale vampire get-up only enhances his glistening eyes and chiseled features. Oh, and Pattinson’s portrayal of the mysterious Edward Cullen is impressive, too. Co-star Kristen Stewart makes for a stiff Bella Swan, who seems neither surprised nor hesitant upon discovering Edward’s true nature. The chemistry between the two leads is believable though, and the overwhelming lust between Edward and Bella keeps the more tiresome elements of the plot from getting boring.
The other members of the “vegetarian” Cullen/Hale vampire clan stand out among the cast as well. Ashley Greene makes for a perfectly bubbly Alice, and Jackson Rathbone delivers priceless pained facial expressions as Jasper Hale. However, the less friendly vampires who have been disturbing the town by killing humans are more laughable than they are menacing. Lack of intimidating villains aside, Twilight is a fast-paced modern-day fairy tale that will succeed in making teenage girls swoon. Be ready to shield your ears.
So: what did YOU think?

I also saw it on the Thursday. I absolutely loved it. Of course it wasn’t perfect. But I am so glad of the things they chose to add to the movie. Robert Pattinson looked so sexy. It was CRAZY. There was so much diversity. I laughed, screamed (with joy) and wanted to cry (only because I wish I could be Bella). I thought it was good. People who say it sucked are too critical. Like, I`m just happy they made a movie.
Maybe you can help. What was the mathematical quiz one of the Twilight guests gave the audience where the answer was 7?
Have had a few inquiries about this during our radio show.
Thanks for your help!
I was appalled at the cast of Twilight on MM..so many fans who had waited so long in the cold weather and so much enthusiam for these people and Robert and Kristen were very blahhhh..could barely answer a question, looked like they would rather be anywhere but there..would they be happier working at McDonalds or something so they dont have to be so put upon by adoring fans? Were they hungover? stoned? asleep? The only person who looked appreciative of the fan support was the Canadian actress..the others could use an attitude adjustment and realize that once they are not ‘hot’ anymore, they just might miss the attention they are presently not showing much appreciation for.
I saw it wednesday night. At the beginning i was pretty excited about it and ive read the book and love them! Personally, i gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars. The characters were how i imagined them, almost exactly, and they all had great chemistry. The only thing is the beginning of it when Bella is getting to know Edward went by too fast and skipped some things that would have completely sold me on this movie. The first half was too fast and i was pretty thrown off, and yes, I know they have to fit a 500 page book into 2 hours. The second half escalated and was so good! Rob and Kristen did absolutley amazing and brought out the true characters.
Whoever said Rob over did it in some scenes and mad it “hysterical”.. that was the point :). Sorry, i dont know if you meant that in the way I precieved it or not, but they had to make it a little funny, no? He pulled everything off very well!
The more obsessed fans will be on either end of the spectrum; hating it or loving it.
I saw it this afternoon, and I thought that it was great. However there was some things that they missed, which would have made the movie just a little better.
But I still loved it all the same.
The only redeemning quality to this film was the chemistry between Edward and Bella.
The action sequences were laughable. Given the fan adoration, could the studio not have put more money into this film?
The bad vampires were not at all scary.
The white makeup was awful, and the casting of the Cullen clan was terribly off base. Where were the beautiful, powerful, elegant vampires from the novel?
By the way, who paid off the main stream film reviewers to give this piece of garbage such positive reviews.
um.
the movie was alright compared to the book but if i didn’t read the book and just watched the movie i would have loved it
one other thing
ROB is gorgeous but Edward is described beyond gorgeous so that did go together a little bit but the acting wasn’t all that great but the concept was HOT
I dont know you guys can be SO critical because if wasn’t exactly like the book. Everyone pictures the cullens a different way, and im not saying the way you picture them is wrong, but just that we all have our opinions! But whose opinion mattered the most? STEPH’s!!! So I’m glad she got the actors she wanted, because if an artist isnt happy with her own work… well that’s just not right.
I went to see the movie on Saturday, after recently finishing the first book. I thought the movie was well done, though I would like to have seen a few details from the book that were left out of the movie. For example, a more detailed history of the Cullen family, especially Carlisle. This would help to explain how each of the Cullens came to be, and why they have chosen the “diet” they’re on. People who had not read the book might have understood a little more had those details been included in the movie. I thought that the build up to Edward & Bella’s declaration of love was a little rushed, but I was pleased to see the on-screen chemistry between Rob and Kristen. They both made their characters believable, and captured the emotion that we experienced in the book. For the most part though, the movie held true to the book, and I enjoyed it very much. I’m anxious to finish the rest of the books, and I look forward to future sequels.
Absolutely hated the movie. The acting was just so cheesy…and the makeup was just horrible! (It looked too fake!!!) I want my money back

The movie as a whole was pretty well done. I think for the most part it did the book justice. The only thing that disappointed me was the acting that came out of Robert Pattinson. Some parts he way over did things making it histarical. There are though a couple scenes where he just acted natural that I enjoyed. All in all I give the movie a thumbs up!
