Tyra Banks fires ANTM’s Jay Manuel, Nigel Barker and Ms. Jay

Good luck smizing through this piece of news. Tyra Banks shocked fans today when she announced that long time America’s Next Top Model’s judges and mentors, Jay Manuel, J. Alexander and Nigel Barker will not be returning for Cycle 19 of the hit modelling reality show. The New York Post is reporting that the three ANTM staples, who have been with ANTM since 2003, did not have their contracts renewed to return next season. This is so not fierce.

Banks, who serves as the host, head judge and executive producer for America’s Next Top Model, tweeted yesterday “Fierce & love 2 my @NigelBarker, @MrJayManuel & Miss J. #ANTM turned us in2 a family. Excited for what the future holds for us.” Noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker kept it classy with his Twitter response, tweeting “Best of luck with cycle 19, It has been a pleasure working with you the past 8 years. Much love Nigel.”

While I almost never agree with Nigel’s criticisms for the models, he did play a role in taming down the judging panel. Jay Manuel, who hosted the short lived Canada’s Next Top Model, and Ms. J Alexander will definitely be missed by fans. Who will teach the girls how to walk? But the most shocking thing about this breaking news article is that it brought to my attention runway coach J. Alexander’s age – 53! Now that’s fierce.
