I love music festivals! They’re a great way of finding new music and each one brings its own vibe that the crowd and bands feed off of. On August 10, I was lucky enough to be at the very first Underage Music Festival that took place in Victoria Park, London, England, and you had to be 14-19 to attend. This created such a refreshing atmosphere; everyone was so chill and upbeat. There was no old guys sitting around on their lawn chairs, everyone was simply there to have a good time! With four different stages to choose from, I found myself torn between what bands to see.
I ended up checking out The Teenagers, I Was A Cub Scout, The Pigeon Detectives, Cajun Dance Party, Foals, Mystery Jets, Pull Tiger Tail, and Patrick Wolf.
Each bands set was short, (around 20-30 min each), but all put on a great energetic show. I knew most of the bands I went to see, except for Foals and Pull Tiger Tail. Both of these bands blew me away and I highly recommend both. Actually…I highly recommend all the bands I went to see! I could go into detail about each band but all were solid, tight, and dance-y!
I will say though that a performance I must highlight was Patrick Wolf (pictured above). That boy is golden and he can do no wrong. His voice was flawless and when he stated to cover Rihanna’s Umbrella I nearly died.
Another noteworthy act was The Mystery Jets. They have this energy about their music, and it is shown in their live shows. It was so much fun to see them live! Check them out when they play the El Mocambo in Toronto on September 20!
