Vanessa Hudgens joins Rent cast

Vanessa Hudgens has joined the cast of the Broadway musical Rent for this summer in LA. Hudgens’ costar in the upcoming movie “Beastly” Neil Patrick Harris is set to direct the production. Rent centers around a group of friends in 1980′s New York who struggle with drugs, AIDS and suicide. Hudgens will play Mimi, a lead character who suffers from HIV and pays the bills as an exotic dancer. She’s come a long way from High School Musical!
