Vatican slams New Moon

November 20th, 2009

pop

The Roman Catholic Church is denouncing the Twilight franchise.

Apparently there are no Twi-hards or Team Edward versus Team Jacob debates happening inside the Vatican.

The Roman Catholic Church is speaking out against New Moon calling the Twilight franchise a “moral vacuum with a deviant message.”

The Vatican has previously spoken out against The DaVinci Code and Harry Potter films.

New Moon hits theatres tonight.

  1. What does this have to do with music?

MuchMusic has become nothing more than a virtual gossip rag. Stop reporting on irrelevant subjects such as what the Vatican thinks of some lame book/movie franchise aimed at 12 year old girls. It doesn’t have anything to do with music!

  2. The Pope is just jealous that Taylor Lautner has Jesus’ abs.

  3. They don’t like that it was written by a Mormon. They see the film as a portrait of Catholic vs Mormon positioning with the Volturi as the old corrupt Catholic group vs the younger, sleeker and rising Mormon group located in the wetern US. Dr. Cullen even looks exactly like Joseph Smith. Not to mention that much of Twilight is based on Mormon doctrines.

Good luck Vatican. I hear theaters in Rome are full of screaming Italian girls.

  4. Who the hell cares what the Vatican thinks, a bunch of useless old men who never worked a day in their lives should not have a say in anything, and no I don’t like Twilight. I just had to comment

  6. I wouldn’t slam the Twillight franchise for the reasons that the Vatican would, a “moral vacuum with a deviant message.”

I would slam it for being really crappy though. The acting is terrible (on par with the abilities of Steven Segal). The main characters all have huge bags under their eyes (is that supposed to be sexy?). As well they both look like EMOs. And the story line is pathetic, without any substance.

And vampires can exist in sunlight?? They just look like they are wearing thousands of sequins, all sparkling. That’s just lame. The key attribute of any vampire story is that sunlight kills them. But I guess the writer (Stephenie Meyer) never read that anywhere???!!!

If you are really interested in vampires, I would suggest the Anne Rice vampire chronicles. They are actually worthwhile (except for the movie with Tom Cruise, that too sucked; because of Tom Cruise).
