VFest 08: Flosstradamus At Least Once A Day

I have to be honest: I had never heard of Flosstradamus. BUT, that being said, as soon as I saw their hilarious name on the VFest line-up I knew I had (a) research them, and then (b) check them out in person.

Turns out they have nothing to do with dental hygiene. They are a DJ duo out of Chicago made up of DJs J2K and Autobot. They’ve toured extensively with our very own Chromeo and, well, their MySpace offers up a KILLER mash-up of Twista ft. Kanye West’s “Overnight Celebrity” with, wait for it, Sigur Ros. Needless to say, I knew I could not miss their DJ set.

And, well, after seeing them do their thing, I am going to come right out and say that they may be one of the most fun DJing duo I have ever seen. Yes, that’s a bold statement, especially since their set was made up of mostly Top 40 and fun hits of yesteryear, but there was not a still body in the entire Bacardi B-Live tent (Case in point: when they blasted Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone” the crowd went f*ckin berserk, myself included). It was an instant party and one that I want to be a part of again in the very near future. I will be keeping an eye on these guys, and next time they are in the city I expect to see all of you there.
