The weather’s noticeably cooler today but at least the brief rainstorm has passed. Wendy and I stuffed our faces with baked oatmeal again at Diner Deluxe and now we’re ready to face a veritable deluge of Canadian indie superstars at day two of Virgin Festival in Calgary!
A lot has happened since last night. We put together a recap video of Day 1’s adventures (which you can watch here), Sarah Taylor got her nose pierced, two members of our crew consumed Tubby Dogs and lived to tell about it, and I wrestled a wolverine. One of those things is a lie, by the way.
I just heard part of Attack In Black’s set and they sounded great. I’m about to rush backstage to interview a few of them and ask them what it was like to grow up in Welland, Ontario (aka the birthplace of many David Lynch movie plots).
People are slowly trickling in and I’m really hoping they get here in time to see The Constantines when they take the stage in 30 minutes cause their set is NOT to be missed!
And now, once again, the music playing in between sets is totally amazing - today’s seems to be noticeably (and fittingly!) more Canadian than yesterday’s. So far I’ve heard The Stills, Tegan & Sara, The Arcade Fire, but now they’re playing Ladytron, Doves and Bloc Party (clearly not Canadian).
I’m off to watch Constantines now!
