Watch the video: Classified ‘Trouble’

“…And when the beat goes on it’s TROUBLE!” As soon as I saw this video I knew it was going to be my pick of the week. The animation is urban and the timing of each spelled out word is bang on. It had my attention for the entire duration of the video because not only is it visually pleasing, but the song itself is quite catchy. I’s always unfortunate when the song and the video don’t support eachother.

Elements of ‘Trouble’ immediately reminded me of a youtube vid from a couple of years ago for Lupe’s ‘And He Gets The Girl’, made by a student named Matthew Metoyer. (check that one out too, if you haven’t already seen it) If ‘Trouble’ was all text and made as effectively as that video, it would be that much better. But still, it’s pretty good the way it is.

I’m always a fan of animation that mimics the same camera movement you’d see in a movie. Boy, we’ve come a long way from the Bugs Bunny days! It completely takes the viewing experiece to a completely different level. (Or, as my MADTV hero Eugene Struthers would say, “a ho nuva levo”). Check out the video and see what you think of it. It stood out from the rest for me this week and I think you’ll like it.
