Gnarls Barkley always has the most interesting music videos and I think this one ups the ante. ‘Who’s Gonna Save My Soul’ is a completely honest and yet funny representation of your ‘classic’ break-up. The graphic nature of it is shocking at first, I must admit, but you do get used to it quite quickly. I guess all of my years watching gorey horror films has trained me to belive that a singing heart holding broccoli can only be as creepy as you let it be.

The dialogue exchanged between the 2 characters is what grabbed me the most. It’s sarcastic and funny, although exchanged in a serious context. And depending on which side of the table you can relate to, you may feel like laughing or crying…or maybe both?

‘Who’s Gonna Save My Soul’ is a hate it or love it kind of video. It’s a step away from the majority of music videos out there, with its heavy amount of character dialogue and artist cameo appearance, but I chose this as the video of the week for its unusual delivery of the story that is told.
