Watch the video: N.E.R.D. ‘Sooner or Later’

Ain’t it the truth, N.E.R.D…ain’t it the truth. When I first heard the Seeing Sounds album, this was instantly one of my fave tracks (next to ‘You Know What’ and ‘Spaz’, of course). It’s interesting to see the way they based the video around the gloomy economic state that’s had everyone frowning these past couple of months, because whenever I’d listen to the track I’d always picture a relationship falling apart. You know, the classic slow motion argument in the living room followed by silent treatment for the rest of the video? I suppose the man/money relationship works well, too.

In a really weird and confusing way, this is a feel-good downer song. It’s the track you play when you’re OK about feeling sorry for yourself. Like those minus 30 degree mornings in Toronto when you’re on your way to work and realize that maybe 3 layers just wasn’t enough or the first time you ever watched a Heidi Montag video and you wanted to laugh, but at the same time you just wanted to sob.
