Watch the video - Oren Lavie ‘Her Morning Elegance’

Whoa…what a video! I was completely blown away by the stop-motion genius involved in the creation of one of the most creative music videos I’ve ever seen. I have a soft spot for videos that do a little something different with their 4 minutes and take a great idea and push it to the max. We’ve all been exposed to stop-motion video before, but the creative execution of this was so smooth, that after a while you forget that the artist and the woman are laying in bed. I’ve read that it took 3,225 frames and 2 days of shooting to create this entire video (with 4 weeks worth of pre-production, of course) and it made me appreciate just how much work went into these 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

The video begins with a shot of a woman laying in her bed, tossing and turning a little. Then slowly, without opening her eyes or getting up, she begins to walk, ends up on the subway, swims with tiny little sock ‘fish’ and even rides a bike. The illusion of motion is achieved through the movement of the sheets underneath her and the strategic placement of her hands, arms, body and feet in every frame. The only props used in the entire video are items that you’d find in a bedroom: bedsheets, pillows, socks and one red scarf. Check out the video and see what you think of it. It’s definitely something that will at the very least make you appreciate the patience that this crew must’ve had to create this stand-out vid.
