I love Iceland. I’ve never been, but ever since season 6 of The Amazing Race when the teams touched down on Icelandic soil, I knew that I’d have to visit some day. From its fish cuisine, puffin sightings, interesting and beautiful landscape, to the great Sigur Ros (whose concert film, Heima, showcases their home-country perfectly), what’s there not to love?
That being said, there is one Icelandic export that I don’t necessarily agree with: Bjork. Most musically-inclined individuals seem to LOOOOOVE her, where I, for the most part, find her to be completely nonsensical and inaccessible. But I gotta hand it to her: she always has great music videos.
Her latest, Wanderlust, is definitely worth checking out. At first it looks like it could belong to a live-action version of Where The Wild Things Are. But it quickly goes into the bizarrely abstract and continues to be visually impressive and interesting.
Watch The Video: Wanderlust

The video for Wanderlust was made by San Francisco-based filmmakers, Encyclopedia Pictura. Their site shows just how abstract, weird and wonderful their past projects have been. For another visual mind-f*ck, check out the video they did for Grizzly Bear’s Knife - in both Knife and Wanderlust you’ll see Encyclopedia Pictura’s unique style and their extreme attention to detail.
Speaking of attention to detail, myspacetv.com has an amazing making-of vid for Wanderlust, showing us how the animals and characters were built and then brought to life. Interesting fact: The video was shot to be in 3D! The 3D version will be coming our way soon and will surely enhance what is already brilliant.

Sure, the video for Wanderlust is over my head (I mean, don’t even begin to ask me what the eff it’s actually about), but I don’t think that’s even important. It’s a magnificent feast for the eyes - so dig in.
Hey, so maybe I’m a Bjork fan after all. Iceland, here I come!
