So I was just watching The Verve‘s performance of their brand new single Love Is Noise at Glastonbury 2008, which took place last week, thinking to myself, man, I NEED to see them in a festival setting again. I actually saw them at Glastonbury 1995…13 years ago!! I can’t believe I missed them when they were in Toronto last month. And then…it dawned on me:

The album’s out August 19. They’ll most certainly be touring again to promote it, and they’re already playing two other Virgin Festival dates in the UK. So why not Toronto? They’ve got nothing on their September tour schedule (according to MySpace) yet…come on!

Word has it there are still LOTS more big name acts to be announced before September 6 & 7 roll around. So why not The Verve? Imagine? The Verve ushering in Oasis on the main stage on Day 2. Maybe even do a collaboration right then and there. It’d be epic.

So I’m officially predicting that they’ll be added to the lineup based on no evidence other than sniffing around and doing the date math. Who else would do a great job at rounding out the Toronto festival? Some other predictions – all these artists have new stuff out this year and be epic:

Beck

Elbow

Weezer

Santogold

Duffy
