Ohaiii Muchkins!

Lauren O’Nizzle here, reporting live(ish) from Day 3 of the VJ 2.0 Finale week! We’re right in the middle of the madness now – HUMP DAY, Hullz yes! Do you love that I just legitimately said hump in the first paragraph of this post? Ah, creative freedom… Blogging is a good gig, my friends.

So, about a hundred KAJILLION things happened with the VJ competition today. In case you were tending to your dying goldfish or something and couldn’t catch the show, I’ll fill you in:

The fabulous four were challenged to shop their stylish little faces off and produce a wicked outfit for a special event. Basically, MuchMusic threw them each 250 bones and let them loose in a trendy boutique. Challenge? More like a sweet freakin’ deal! Just Sayin’.

Anyways, they all proved themselves quite fashionable. Marlon, Laith and Liz were all sporting some cute threads, but if I had to snipe anybody’s outfit it would be Alli’s. Those gold tights were straight sikkk, and I don’t know if you could see it from home (maybe you’ve got HD?), but her necklace was a little gold shopping bag! Poifect!

The Veej gang also got a chance to chat with four MuchMusic viewers about pop culture happenings and junk. I know I’m supposed to be all unbiased and impartial (that’s what they teach us in journalism school, anyways), but I’ve got to say that Liz’s question was my favourite. She talked to a young lady via webcam about Tuesday night’s (AMAZING) Victoria’s Secret fashion show and brought up the question of throwing some real looking ladies into the mix with Adriana, Giselle and that whole battalion of Brazillian bombshells. I can totally get on board with that idea.

Not that I don’t love to watch my favourite VS angels shimmy down the runway (it’s like my Barbie dolls came to life, grew out the crew cuts I gave them when I was 8, and learned to stomp it out with bended knees and all! Mesmerizing!), but it would be cool to see more than one (ridiculously unobtainable) body type up there on the runway. Show me some variety, VS! Some short girls, some thick girls – hey, maybe even a few sistahs rocking a-cups? (itty bitty titty committee, represent!) Bottom line – Trinnear proved she’s got style AND substance. That’s hot. (PS – I now have free range on that phrase… Marlon told me that Paris Hilton doesn’t own it. Maybe SHE stole it from ME! HA!)

Moving on – Did I mention that SWOLLEN MEMBERS stopped by the environment? The guys gave a solid interview and signed about a million autographs for their fans.

I asked the newest “member” (get it?) Tre Nyce who HE thinks will win the VJ competition. “Well, the blonde girl’s got a good look…” he said, pointing towards the general direction of both Alli and Liz. I should have asked him to be more specific. “But Marlon, he’s got the right swagger.”

It’s true, the kid does have swagger – they all do… but how will they perform under pressure? I decided to grill each of the competitors myself to find out. I asked a question that I thought would be almost impossible to answer.

You know those colourful oblong shapes that are plastered all over the MuchMusic environment? On the floor, on the walls, on the ceiling – they’re undeniably sweet, but what the aich-eee-double hockey sticks are they? I was watching MOD with a friend one day and she was like “Why do they always stand on those band-aids?”

Up until that point, I had assumed that they were snowboard decks. Maybe that’s just the hill-rat in me. Come December, pretty much everything starts to look like a snowboard.

I hit the potential VJs with my burning query, and apparently I wasn’t the only one who saw a bevy of boards. Liz, an avid shredder herself, agreed with me – “Definitely snowboards.” Marlon saw surfboards, but said that they could also be pills. “Pills for your soul!” he said. “Yeah!” laughed Laith,“Much-Meds!” hahaha. Nice.

Alli kept it real. “Well, I would say that they’re pieces of graphic that are stuck to the floor!” Homegirl is downright logical – and accurate as it turns out, ‘cause that’s exactly what they are according to most MuchMusic staffers. MOST staffers, that is…

Jesse Giddings, MuchMusic’s newest VJ, was kind enough to let me in on the big secret behind the colourful nail-file looking thingies.

“They’re portals into an intergalactic dimension of music. Some take you back ten years. Some take you back 60 years. Some take you forward.” When I asked him if he’s taken advantage of the portals, he confirmed that indeed, he has been 50 years into the future. “I went into the future, and I came back to lead the way into a new dimension…” he said.

You might be skeptical, but I think he’s telling the truth. If life has taught me ANYTHING, it’s that cute boys NEVER lie :)

2. Chatting it up with Swollen Members’ entourage backstage. They had a lot of people with them… I felt like I was in a rap video or something – fun! And I scored a guest list invite to their show, woot woot! See you there?

1. The cheeto-topped birthday cake brought in to honour the 28th b-day of the one and only Britney Spears. Have you ever tried vanilla cake with cheetos? You should. It’s one of those things like Chocolate covered bacon, or peanut butter & pickle sandwiches, or French fries dipped in chocolate milkshakes – sounds weird, but it works, ya know? Lucky for ME, most of the people hanging around MOD today weren’t very interested in eating the cake (they don’t share my refined culinary sophistication, obviously). BONUS! More Britney cake for Lauren, heh heh heh…
