Walk Off The Earth breaks record with over 100 million views on YouTube

May 16th, 2012

No doubt you are one of the over hundred million views on Walk Off The Earth’s YouTube channel for their cover video of Gotye featuring Kimbra’s track, Somebody That I Used To Know. That famous cover catapulted the Burlington, Ontario group from general indie status to online heroes. Because of their unique one guitar performance of Somebody That I Used To Know, they broke records and now carry the title of most popular cover ever posted on YouTube. They just released a new track covering Nirvana’s Polly which is available off iTunes today. The video for this cover had already been on YouTube for a few weeks now and already has over a million views. The group will be headed to Lollapalooza on a busy North American tour this summer preceding the release of their first major label album release from Columbia Records.

Walk Off The Earth is one cover success story and we’re so stoked for this promising Canadian band. We also have high hopes for our newly announced Covers finalists Brooke MacArthur, Tyler Shaw, and Kayla Patrick who will have to battle it out and try to win a chance of a lifetime to win a VIP trip to the MMVAs, create a commercial, record a song, and star in their very own music video!
