Watch Coldplay’s Princess of China video featuring Rihanna

We were treated to a preview of the Coldplay video for Princess of China featuring Rihanna over a month ago and now finally, we have the absolutely stunning video here. The song was written specifically with Rihanna in mind even before the Bajan songstress hand a gold-tipped talon in the idea and when she agreed to sing for the band, it was like musical kismet. The collaboration between Rihanna’s exotic voice and Chris Martin’s powerful sound intermingles so beautifully, it only makes sense to make an equally striking video.

The video shows Chris Martin and Rihanna, both skillful fighters and lovelorn opponents. As they sing head to head in the desert, their fates seem sealed in a Romeo and Juliet-esque tragedy as they must also fight each other in a story that is more Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon than The Notebook.

Princess of China is the fourth single off Coldplay’s fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto.
