One of the more blogged about bands in the past year is Brooklyn’s Cults. Essentially Brian Oblivion and Madeline Follin, the band has received all kinds of love for their throwback sound, which borrows heavily from both ’60s girl group pop and hip-hop rhythms. Cults are also regular collaborators, the latest of which is on the upcoming Fucked Up album, David Comes To Life (which you can conveniently hear here).
But when it came time for Wedge host and Fucked Up frontman Damian Abraham to interview them, well, it was also the first meeting he had with them. In the interview, Damian discussed how weird it is to work with other musicians without actually meeting them, Follin’s days as a six-year-old punk singer, and just how many bands out there have used the word “cult” in their name.
And don’t forget to check out the band’s self-titled album (out June 7th) streaming over in our First Spin section. Click here to listen.
