Gregg Gillis is a man who’s built his career out of using other people’s art. As Girl Talk, he’s risen to fame sampling and then stitching together new songs out of those samples. Now one of the biggest touring indie acts on the circuit, he’s built a reputation on his electrifying, stage-crashing gigs, which bring together crowds of all kinds to get sweaty to anyone from Nirvana and AC/DC to Lil Wayne and Jay-Z.
During a recent stop in Toronto, Damian caught up with Gillis to discuss how involved he is with the political side of challenging music copyright laws, producing for other artists and what he has in store for the future of Girl Talk.
