Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine may have a mesmerizing voice, but she still knows how to rock out. The British singer-songwriter recently performed a cover of Green Day’s Hitchin’ a Ride with friend Dev Hynes of Lightspeed Champion at a Coachella event. The track is off of Green Day’s 1997 album, Nimrod, and Welch definitely does it justice, trading in her usual ethereal voice for a raspier, rock ‘n’ roll attitude.
Welch recently suffered a vocal injury and has been ordered by doctors to take a week off from singing. She Tweeted to fans, “Unfortunately this means i will not be able to perform at Benicassim and Optimus alive festival this weekend..i am so so sorry.. im so sorry to all the fans, i was desperate to still perform, but was told without question not to, so as not to do permanent damage.. hope i can make it up to you in the future.”
Till then, at least, we have this clip! Watch below.
