The official trailer for Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers has been released and appears to include all the gritty, in-your-face elements his films have become known for. Making a name for himself with the disturbing and groundbreaking depiction teens in New York City with his 1995 film Kids, Korine is back to take another look at youths spiraling out of control.

Acting as writer and director in his latest flick, Korine cast Disney actress Selena Gomez, High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens and Pretty Little Liars’ star Ashley Benson, along with James Franco and Korine’s wife, Rachel Korine, for the film.

Spring Breakers follows four girls as their plan to have the ultimate Spring Break goes terribly wrong, landing them in the debt of professional criminal Alien, played by an almost unrecognizable Franco. The film was shot in Sarasota, Florida, but is worlds away from the Orlando Disney World Theme Park that has better represented Gomez, Hudgens and Benson’s career up to this point.

Audiences have been eager to see the voyeuristic film after it received a warm reception at both the Cannes Film Festival and TIFF last year. Spring Breakers is set to be released on March 6th.
