Just a few years back, Wale was one of the most hyped MCs in the rap game. With his string of excellent mixtapes and co-signs from just about everyone, the DC native was destined to become huge. When it came time to drop his debut album, 2009’s Attention Deficit, the hype machine stopped working for Wale and he was soon dropped by Interscope. But thanks to some help from Rick Ross, Wale was able to restart his career, signing to Maybach Music Group and releasing his widely praised second LP, Ambition.
T-RexXx sat down with Wale during a stop in Toronto to talk about the influence of his hometown, his poetic writing style and how he defines ambition.
