The trailer for the new movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower starts off with Charlie, the lead character played by Logan Lerman, writing and narrating a letter saying, “Dear friend: I haven’t really talked to anyone outside of my family all summer but tomorrow is my first day and… I really want to turn things around this year.” Sounds like a familiar story most teenagers can relate to. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is the story of Charlie, a high school freshman, who is taken under the guidance of Sam and Patrick, two seniors at his school (played by Emma Watson and Ezra Miller).
The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen Chbosky and before fans of the book cringe at the idea of a film adaptation, fear not because Stephen Chbosky also wrote the screenplay and directed the film. This level of creative control by an author is a rarity and will certainly keep the essence of the story and feel of the characters as close to the intended sentiment of the novel.
The trailer was released during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards and you can watch the golden popcorn goodness on demand right here. But you can also watch the trailer for The Perks of Being a Wallflower below and let us know what you think in the comments section!
