Last month, we had the pleasure to interview the San Diego band Wavves. They had just woken up when they arrived at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, but it didn’t take long for them to express their craving for some bud.

Well, it looks like this craving has gotten frontman Nathan Williams in a bit of trouble over in Germany.

Williams tweeted on Friday that he was “Arrested in Germany by a guy w/ a Metallica patch on his Polizei jacket. Out on bail fresh out of jail Munich dreamin’.” (I guess that’s what happens when your band sells weed grinders at their merch tables.)

He’s since explained the incident in a statement that reads: “We got stopped at a roadside check and I had six bags in the car and they only found one– the f**king dogs never work. I bet it’s high from all the fumes. Anyways, they put me in a cell which was a little nerve-wracking. More so because I was an American in a German jail and not because I have long gay hair. I did wrestle for four years in high school, so I could have f**ked somebody up. So yeah, then I gave em €200 and walked out… not a terrible deal. And now I’m getting high again.”

The cherry on top though came from his main squeeze, Bethany Cosentino from Best Coast. After hearing about her man getting busted for some dime bags, she tweeted: “HANG IN THERE BOO #FREEWILLIAMS” complete with a pic of one of those cute kitties holding on to a tree branch.
