Vancouver We Day performer Demi Lovato appeared on Katie Couric’s new show this week to talk about her struggle with eating disorders and her journey towards seeking treatment for self harm. The singer, actress and motivational speaker was candid with the journalist, talking about her lowest point and her daily struggle to stay healthy.
Demi reveals that she was only three years old when she first began to worry about her weight and that constant bullying from other children at school finally forced the child star to choose home schooling. Couric admits that she too suffered from an eating disorder in her early twenties, helping to shed light on how common the disorder is among women.
While at Katie’s studio, Demi recorded the message below for young women dealing with eating disorders.
You can see Demi perform as part of We Day Vancouver on October 18 on MuchMusic.com. We Day Toronto takes place this Friday on MuchMusic.com and will feature performances from Jennifer Hudson and Nelly Furtado.
