We Day speaker Demi Lovato is continuing to spread her anti-bullying message with the youth of today with a surprise appearance at Harlem’s Young Women’s Leadership School during a “Drama Free School Year” Anti-Bullying Assembly. The singer, actress and X Factor judge took time out of her busy schedule to talk to students about her experiences with bullying.
The Secret sponsored event included students pinky swearing that they would not take part in bullying, with the students at the all-girls school painting their pinky nails blue in solidarity. Lovato promised to uphold the pledge made at the school today, saying “It’s a conversation starter: ‘Hey, why is your pinky blue?’ ‘This is a pinky promise that I’m not going to bully people, that me and my friends are ganging up for good.’”
Lovato’s appearance was part of Secret’s Mean Stink’s campaign, which our own Phoebe Dykstra is no stranger to. Demi will be bringing her anti-bullying message to the Vancouver We Day on Thursday, October 18 (stream it live on MuchMusic.com).
