We might have never heard of Call Me Maybe

Carly Rae Jepsen was supposed to write a folk album, not a pop album! In a recent interview with Billboard Carly Rae opens up about the development of her album Kiss and how she was set to work on a folk album versus the pop perfection that was the feel of Call Me Maybe. “But I didn’t want to [write a folk album],” Jepsen told Billboard on the set of the Walmart Soundcheck taping. “I wanted to write a pop album. And everyday I’d go into the studio with every intention of writing a folk album, and I’d have all these pop ideas. At one point I threw my hands in the air and said, ‘Well this is what I want to do. Let’s break all the rules and just do it.’”
