We pay tribute to the music of Amy Winehouse

July 23rd, 2012

Amy Winehouse passed away a year ago today in her home and though the tragedy of her death is still felt by her loved ones and the music industry community, the legend of her talent and her legacy lives on. Amy’s family set up The Amy Winehouse Foundation shortly after her death to aid “young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction”. The foundation has plans to build a children’s hospice in Camden where Amy grew up. The charity also has several scholarships to Sylvia Young Theatre School where Winehouse studied. Amy’s life might have been much too brief but the celebration of it has led to aid of people who need it.

Amy’s voice has continued to be heard even after her passing as her posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures has gone platinum. Earlier this month, Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse announced that there are plans for two more posthumous records in the works.
