One of the things we’ve always loved doing here at Much is uniting fans with their favourite artists. If we can sneak a surprise in there, even better!
Over the years, we’ve brought countless fans and artists together, even making an entire series out of these unions in My Date With. But some surprises have really stuck out in our memory. Today, we’re taking a look at three of our faves.
Ahead of her monstrous Red Tour, Taylor Swift took some time to stop by Much and answer questions from a studio audience full of Swifties. These fans had all taken a lot of time and effort to submit videos to us, declaring their love for all things Taylor.
Three fans were told that the studio was full, but to make up for missing Taylor, we would spend the day taking them to a farm and cheese store. Because you know, that’s the same thing. Instead, we surprised the girls by putting them face-face-face with the superstar in our studios. Deliriously happy-hugging ensued.
Following the release of Hedley’s single Anything in late 2013, we invited six of Hedley’s biggest fans to our studio under the false pretenses that they would be singing the new Hedley track for a promo. The fans got a huge surprise when Jacob and Dave from Hedley joined them onstage! Props to those who were able to make it through the song. We would have turned to ugly-crying ASAP.
We love surprising fans with their favourite artists and one of our biggest surprises was with UK pop sensations One Direction. We invited fans of the boy band to our studios to talk about their favourite group, not telling them that we would only be asking about 1D. We surprised fans with a Skype call from Liam, Harry, Louis, Zayn and Niall, but when technical difficulties arose, we revealed who would be serving as our IT team for the day.
In celebration of Much’s 30th Anniversary we’re going to be looking at plenty of amazing footage all month long. Keep up with the great anniversary content on Much.ca and by using the hashtag #ForeverYoung. Our special presentation of 30 Years of Much premieres this Saturday, August 30 at 9E/6P.Tweet
