What Lil Wayne did on Weezy Weekend

November 8th, 2010

Imagine you’re Lil Wayne. You’ve just been released from Rikers, you’re as free as a bird and your next move is??

Well, the day after his release, Weezy travelled to Miami where took in an NBA game between the newly enhanced Miami Heat game versus his hometown New Orleans Hornets with his labelmate/label co-owner Birdman.

Then Saturday he headed to Vegas to join his protégé Drake on stage for the final stop of his Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour at The Joint – Hard Rock Hotel. Weezy revamped a verse from Drizzy’s “Miss Me” to fit his recent stint in the slammer, spitting, “I was gone ’til November, but I didn’t trip ’cause I know he was gonna get ‘em.”

Finally, the main event dubbed the “Welcome Home, Tunechi” party, went down at the King of Diamonds strip club back in Miami. Rolling out the red carpet, the high profile event saw appearances by Weezy’s mom and baby mama Lauren London, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Busta Rhymes, Streetrunner, Bow Wow, Rick Ross, Jay Sean, Cool & Dre, Young Chris, Rico Love, Dow Jones, Waka Flocka Flame and Young Money members Lil Chuckee, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz and Short Dawg.

Speaking with MTV in his first post-prison interview, Wayne said, “I just wanna thank everybody. Not only MTV fans, but the fans across the whole world. Most of all, my family. I couldn’t do it without them and I would never do it without them.”

No word on what his next move is, but if we’re to believe Nicki Minaj, Weezy could be hitting the road shortly for a tour to promote the albums like Rebirth and I Am Not A Human Being, which he was unable to promote properly because of his sentence.
