Reading? Are you kidding me? HELLO - There’s sun, beaches, drinks, pools, barbeques to enjoy – who has time for reading?
Hey, if you want to spend everyday sweaty and in search of that cold drink, go ahead…..but you can also hang around in a hammock and feel the breeze, lie down in the shade in a park, or relax and tan in the sun – all with a good book.
And don’t act like that’s so strange – you’ve bared your fangs for Twilight, you’ve waved your wands for Harry Potter, you’ve saved the world with Batman and Iron Man, and you’ve even learned elvish for The Lord of the Rings….so what are you going to read this summer?
See if any of these will live up to the Twilight/Potter hype:
Batman: RIP – Bruce Wayne is dead (or is he?) a major storyline still running through Batman comics, the Death of Bruce Wayne tells of his death, who’s been filling his shoes since, and if and when he’s set to return.
The Carrie Diaries – its Sex and the City: the teen years – catch up with Carrie Bradshaw in her teenage years as she learns all about NYC and the highs and lows of love.
X-Men: Second Coming – Marvel’s band of merry mutants have a big storyline this summer – the first mutant child born since mutants were depowered is all grown up and ready to fight…either with, or against, the X-Men.
The Beautiful Between – its Raphunzel for 2010 – a beautiful girl is trapped in her own NYC apartment as the hot boy from school pulls her out into the real world.
Daniel X – a story of an alien hunter determined to catch all the corrupt aliens posing a threat to the human race.
Kristy’s Great Idea – it’s the baby-sitter’s club – graphic novel style! Enjoy the mishaps of Kristy, Claudia, Mary-Ann, and Stacy as they handle boys, school, friendships, and children.
Remember – Robsten, Lauter, Radcliffe – they all sprung from the pages of your favourite books!!
