What’s It Like To Win A Date With Danny Fernandes?

A commonly asked question is: If you were given the opportunity to spend the day with your favorite celebrity, who would it be and what would you do? My answer: spending the day with Danny Fernandes, riding rollercoasters at Canada’s Wonderland, then watching the sunset while eating sushi on a yacht. MuchMusic gave me this opportunity and let me tell you… it was a dream come true.

When I received the email saying I was in the top four for My Date With…Danny Fernandes the only thing I could do was re-read the message over and over. I couldn’t believe my eyes… Then it hit me… I was one step closer to meeting DANNY FERNANDES! I reacted like anyone else would react if they just got the email I had received. Jumping, screaming, and calling everyone I knew… you know, the usual haha!

The day MuchMusic came to my door, I was SO excited! I had a few of my friends over and they were just as excited and nervous as I was! It’s not everyday MuchMusic comes to your door! I didn’t know what to expect… the anticipation was killing me! The time came to open the envelope, and all I could feel were the butterflies in my stomach. My friends surrounded me, cheering and clapping as I opened the envelope. Turns out, there was nothing in the envelope! Then… a limo came down the street and I instantly started to cry with happiness! Devon hopped out of the limo and handed me another envelope which told me I had won! I WAS GOING TO MEET DANNY FERNANDES! WAS THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!? I was able to choose one friend to join me on my date, and I chose my friend Kayla. From there, the journey started…

We were taken to the Four Seasons hotel in Toronto where we stayed the night. As we walked into the room, there was Danny Fernandes merchandise EVERYWHERE! Everything from Flip Cameras, digital cameras, to personally made hats and t-shirts by Danny HIMSELF! Could this really get any better?

The next day was a FULL day. We were taken to Exit Salon, to get our hair and make-up done. The staff was great, and did a fabulous job on our makeover! The next part of the makeover was a shopping spree at ARITIZA! The woman who worked there helped Kayla and I pick out really cool outfits. It was time… we were ready to meet Danny Fernandes.

We were standing on Queen Street not knowing what’s going to happen next, then a white stretch limo pulled up and out came Danny Fernandes! Then reality struck. O..M..G! Standing right in front of me was DANNY FERNANDES! We introduced ourselves and got into the limo. We talked to him one on one and it was perfect! He was everything I had imagined, and more! Danny asked me to rap my rap I made for him while he beat boxed it. Yeah…embarrassing but SO WORTH IT! HAHA!

Our next stop was at his dance studio, where we got to meet his back up dancers and TYLER MEDEIROS! No big deal or anything … hahah yeah RIGHT, HUGE DEAL! This was amazing! Danny taught us his choreography to “Addicted” and trust me that was not an easy dance to learn, especially in a skirt! Having him teach Kayla and I the dance was such an experience!
We headed to Wonderland right after. Danny, Kayla, Devon, and I rode the Vortex and the Behemoth! YES, THE BEHEMOTH! It was Danny’s first time on the ride, and we sat right in the front… so he got the full view of the first drop hahah! The three of them were screaming and scared stiff! It was comical! We went to play some games and Danny won me a HUGE teddy bear which sits in my room till this day! The four of us played Whack-A-Mole and I actually ended up winning! I won a Pac man and gave it to Danny while Devon won another stuffed animal for Kayla! It was so cool! We finished with eating Funnel Cake which was so delicious!

Our next destination was on this incredible sailboat! When we arrived at the boat, Danny was wearing the cutest sailor’s attire. Boy, did he look hot! The four of us sailed off, and enjoyed a Sushi dinner. It was my first time eating Sushi, and I actually liked it! Danny taught us how to use chopsticks, and to my embarrassment it was a struggle. We got to know him more and more as the night went on which was so cool! The sun was setting, and the Toronto skyline was lit up – it was truly a dream come true!

Our final stop was at Ultra, which is a high-class lounge on Queen Street. Danny, Kayla, Devon, and I toasted to this incredible day and from there we had to say our good-byes. That was hard because we just spent this amazing day with Danny Fernandes, and it all went by so fast that it was already that time to say bye to him. I knew though that I’d meet him again some day.

Now that I have met Danny Fernandes and got to know him a bit one on one, I got to know how great of a guy he is and how he is a normal person, minus the fact he is famous. Haahh! I will always remember how Danny taught Kayla and I his choreography to one of his songs, how we rode the Behemoth, sailed off into the sunset, toasted at Ultra, and the memories shared on My Date With Danny Fernandes. MuchMusic, this experience would have NEVER happened without you. Words can’t even describe how amazing all this was, and how thankful Kayla and I are! I will remember this for the rest of my life and it was a real honor to be able to spend the day with my favorite celebrity. Thank you so much again, MuchMusic!
