What’s Up With Uffie?

Uffie, the Miami born, Hong King raised, Paris based pop rapper (phew) has a great new video out for her single “Difficult.” The gravity defying video has become a favouite on our playlist this week. Why she may sound familiar: Uffie supporters say that Ke$ha ripped her off. But Uffie said, “There are similarities but I don’t want to get too upset about it. My album is coming out so I want to focus on that and not some girl that people say ripped me off. I have heard the song “TiK ToK,” but I am not that into it, or bothered by it”

MuchMusic connection: Uffie is a big fan of Gossip Girl and admits that she is obsessed. “Once I get into an episode, I have to watch until it’s finished,” she told Interview magazine.

Who the heck directed the “Difficult” video: French filmmakers AB/CD/CD directed the wacky optical illusion-esque video. You can also check out their handy work in the video for Lily Allen’s “F—k You.”

Hear that hook: The “dun dun dun dun” piano sample that Uffie raps over in the song “Difficult” was swiped from disco queen and Toronto native Claudja Barry’s “Love of the Hurtin’ Kind.” Don’t you totally love the name of that song? Anyways, check it out here.

Why our team loves her: If there ever was a girl we want to hang out with it would be Uffie. Her Brit grit mixed with her super cute style makes her stand out among any other solo girl performers. Uffie is the real deal. Plus, girl got swagger.
