I wouldn’t call myself a feminist, but I am definitely an equal opportunity offender and considering the recent explosion of summer comic book/superhero blockbuster movies, I am getting a little pissed.
I assure you that I’m as big an Angelina fan as the next woman (or drooling dude), but is a gorgeous 5 ft 8, 90 pound humanitarian actress the best we can do? I saw Wanted and while she is undeniabley gifted and talented as a leading woman, what I really Wanted was for her to have a sandwich … and maybe hit the weights a bit.
What with Iron Man, The Hulk, Hellboy, Batman and god knows what else I’m starting to think that we women have a responsibility to represent. I thought I’d post some ideas to comfort and inspire. It’s gonna be ok.
Batwoman – mostly because I think we’re all done with Batgirl. We all have to grow up some time.
Rogue – super power theft is the new superpower, plus it’s not really stealing if you give it back right?
Storm – she’s really also an African Queen and manipulates nature… nuff said.
Wonder Woman – the woman has fashion accessories with superpowers… and may I draw your attention to the invisible plane.
She-Ra – obvious, mostly because I’m hoping Fergie will rework the 80s theme song!
